Hello fellow foodies! I hope you are having a great weekend. Today, I want to share day 11 of my 12 days of Christmas goodies with you. We are going to take a look at making Stained Glass cookies which are both lovely and tasty.
They remind me of a church with a bunch of stained glass in different shapes. They are certainly festive and a real hit at any cookie exchange. They could easily become “in demand”. Use caution; you may become very popular. Lol!
My family loved these cookies and we had a bunch of fun making them. They had a delightful scent as they baked; a combination of sugar cookies and candy flavors such as cherry, grape, apple, and blue raspberry. Yummy!

3/4 cup salted butter room temperature
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon milk
Jolly Rancher candy or other flavored hard candy
1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together butter and sugar on low speed.
2. Add 1 egg and mix on low until combined.
3. In a medium bowl combine baking powder and flour. Mix thoroughly.
4. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture while mixing on low.
5. Add vanilla and mix on low.
6. Wrap dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight. You want the dough to be firm when you start to cut out shapes.
7. Roll out dough 1/4″ thick on floured surface using a floured rolling pin.
8. Cut shapes with cookie cutters. Use smaller cookie cutters to cut a shape within a shape.
9. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
10. Line a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Add shapes onto the paper.
11. Crush Jolly Ranchers in a plastic bag with a rolling pin. Add pieces to openings inside cookie dough shapes. Make sure that you don’t get any candy on the dough.
12. Bake on the middle rack of the oven for 7-8 minutes. Cool on the pan completely.
13. Embellish with icing if desired. Enjoy!
