Oatmeal Spice Raisin Cookies with Orange Drizzle

Happy Saturday everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything so it felt right to lead with some cookies. I’ve had a horrible upper respiratory infection that has kept me down for 3 weeks. Ugh! I finally relented and went to the doctor to get some help. I’m glad I did because my symptoms were persistent and debilitating. However, after a round of antibiotics and a steroid shot, I’m much better and ready to get back to baking.

Cookies are fun for the whole family and my family loves to come home to home baked treats. I decided to take a traditional oatmeal raisin cookie and jazz it up with some fun holiday spices and flavors. It did not disappoint.

Cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves flavor the cookie while fresh orange is in the icing. It’s a lovely combination that is perfect for the holidays or any day you need a delightful treat!

2 cups all purpose flour

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

2 cups quick oats (instant oatmeal)

1 cup room temperature salted butter

2 eggs

1 cup raisins

Orange Drizzle:

1 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon fresh orange zest

2-3 tablespoons orange juice

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. In a stand mixer, add flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and oats. Mix on low until combined.

3. Add butter and eggs and mix on low until dough pulls away from the side of the bowl.

4. Stir in raisins.

5. On a large cookie sheet covered in parchment paper or a non-stick baking mat, place 1-2 tablespoons of cookie dough 2 inches apart.

6. Bake on the middle rack for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Cool.

7. While cookies are baking, combine powdered sugar, orange zest, and orange juice to make an icing. Stir until smooth.

8. Drizzle icing on cooled cookies and allow to set. Serve and enjoy!

  1. Oatmeal raisin is my favorite kind of cookie. You just made them even better by adding the orange glaze! I kid myself that these will be healthy! It’s almost like eating breakfast, right?
